Bashar Moussa is a singer from Syria. Bashar Moussa was born in Damascus, Syria. He started singing when he was six years old. Bashar studied solfege and accordion. At the age of 14, he started with the beach parties he performed in summer. At that period he began writing his own songs in English and playing guitar. Bashar joined “Al Farah” choir, one of the most famous choirs in Syria, His role was mainly singing (collective and soloist). He wrote songs (music and lyrics) for the choir, some for children.
He took part in many activities with the choir inside and outside Syria. They organised a tour in Europe in 1994 (Germany, France and Holland) and performed 21 concerts which were very successful.
In the early 90’s, he played in western bands and formed a rock band called “M.A.A.B”.
In 1995, he started with his friends to form a band that produces melodic songs reflecting their cultural backgrounds and the concerns and ideas of the young generation.
“KulnaSawa” became increasingly serious about their music and their widely spread popularity, they embarked on a series of concerts and TV appearances.
Bashar managed for KulnaSawa to sign a worldwide recording contract with EMI Music and released tow international albums starting June 2001 including the hugely, crossover singles “Nezlen Ala El Bustan” and “Wain A Ramallah” and other line favorites including ” Almaya”, “Koul Shi Esmoh Jadid” and “Noujmah Kutbiah” .
Bashar and The band toured abroad and did successful concerts like Dubai, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Kuwait, Germany and lately during the launching of their second album “Musaique” did three big concerts with the special appearance of the international Egyptian Musical star Mohamed Mounir that added a great value to the event.
Moreover, like a very important stops in his history along with KulnaSawa he shared the stage in Broadway in New York on November 2004 with the well-known International artist of the “The Sopranos” TV series Dominic Chianese.
In addition, he performed with the legendary musician of (Peter, Paul and Mary) Peter Yarrow in Saint Louis in a concert to remember in USA.
A Concert for Peace Tour last November 2004 brought Bashar with KulnaSawa, to American audiences. Concerts were held in more than 20 major cities around the U.S including the headquarters of the United Nation in New York were they got their tow Awards of Peace.
Bashar with his first solo album BALADI, is trying to prove the richness of the Syrian music scene, putting all what he knows in this lifetime project…
