BIAF, the Beirut International Awards Festival, will be held on the 27th of November 2010 in Beirut International Exhibition and Leisure Center – Biel in the city of Beirut, Lebanon.

After the Murex D’Or Awards (Golden Murex Award), and it’s funny spoof version the Banadoura Dor Awards, a new award has now also emerged in Lebanon; the BIAF.

The BIAF 2010 will honor very successful and creative people from the Arab world, in the presence of VIP guests, celebrities, stars and singers from the Middle East. The lucky winners will receive the BIAF trophy for their outstanding achievements and services.

There is no confirmation yet whether A-list stars such as Nancy Ajram, Myriam Fares, Hayfa Wehbeh, Asala Nasri or Tamer Hosny will be attending the award ceremony. After the Murex d’Or scandals, people in general (and artists in particular)have become quite skeptical towards such Awards.

The organizers of The Beirut International Awards Festival (BIAF) denied their intent to compete with the Murex d’Or Festival, as comparisons have naturally started to appear in the media.

They also highlighted the fundamental difference; there will be no survey or voting associated with the winners. The BIAF committee will solely decide which people from the Arab world deserve to win for their achievements.

The BIAF will also be honoring fourteen personalities from Lebanon who have raised the name of their country locally and abroad.

The current Members of BIAF Committee include Claudia Abi Nader, Tony Semaan, Ghada Shbeir, Antoine Al Haber, Wajih Nakhleh, Dounya Mirza, Dounia Assaf, Michel Daher and Miliya Chammas.

Le Gray Hotel will host the honorees visiting Lebanon to attend this event.

Major Lebanese television stations have requested exclusive coverage of the event, however the official name of the media station which will broadcast the event has not yet been revealed.
