Madhuri Dixit is a popular and powerful Bollywood actress, known for her beauty, acting talents, and dancing skills. Madhuri Dixit is considered to be an icon of the Bollywood film industry. Madhuri was born as Madhuri Shankar Dixit to a Marathi Chitpavan Brahmin family on May 15, 1967. Madhuri Dixit is a five-time Filmfare Awards winning Indian Bollywood actress. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s Madhuri has dominated Hindi cinema as a leading actress, appearing in many hit films.
Madhuri Dixit attended Parle College as she wanted to become a micro-biologist. Madhuri Dixit has been trained as a Kathak dancer, in the Indian classical tradition. Her first acting debut was in Abodh in 1984.
She later had few minor supporting roles her first major role was in Tezaab in 1988 in which she started her career. In 1988 Madhuri starred in the hit films Dayavan , Ram Lakhan in 1989, Dil in 1990, Saajan in 1991, Beta in 1992, Khalnayak in 1993, and the Bollywood blockbuster Hum Aapke Hain Kaun! (1994). After three years of little success, she appeared as Pooja in the successful Dil To Pagal Hai in 1997 for which she has won her fourth Filmfare Best Actress Award.
In 1999, Madhuri Dixit married an Indian-American, UCLA trained cardiovascular surgeon who practices in Denver, Dr. Sriram Madhav Nene. Madhuri has two sons, Arin born in March 2003 and Ryan born on March 8, 2005 in Colorado.
Madhuri Dixit has two elder sisters, Rupa and Bharati, and one elder brother, Ajit. Madhuri now lives with Dr. Nene and her two children in Denver, Colorado, USA.
Madhuri return to the Indian movies was in 2002, as she starred in Devdas, with actor Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai. The film attracted worldwide attention and was featured at the Cannes Film Festival. Since Devdas movie, Madhuri has not appeared in any other films.
Madhuri performed on February 25, 2006 on stage for the first time in six years at the Filmfare Awards to music from her last movie Devdas. Her performance was choreographed by Saroj Khan and was very well received.
On the 7th of December, 2006, Madhuri Dixit returned to Mumbai with her husband and sons in order to start filming her new movie entitled Aaja Nachle, to be produced by Yash Chopra and directed by Anil Mehta.
