Badih Abou-Said, a Lebanese singer born in Kuwait, comes from a family of four with a notable musical heritage. His family ties link him to prominent figures in Arabic music: on his father’s side, he is related to the legendary composer Farid Al-Atrash and singer Asmahan, while on his mother’s side, he is connected to singer Fahd Ballan. Badih’s passion for music emerged at an early age, and he began singing at family gatherings and events, where he received encouragement from his family and relatives.
Badih’s exceptional talent became evident when he performed at various festivals, such as Aley, Metn, and Byblos, singing alongside some prominent stars of that era. His musical foundation was nurtured by the late musician Shafiq Abu Shakra, and later, he attended the Higher Institute of Music (Conservatory) in Lebanon, where he studied oud and vocal techniques. Under the guidance of Professor Mohammad Zein, Badih honed his skills in Eastern singing and eventually joined the Lebanese Choir, performing with the Lebanese Oriental Orchestra, which was led by the late Dr. Walid Gholmieh at the time.
In 1998, Badih participated in the popular TV show “Kas Al Nojoum” (Star Cup) on LBC, competing in an episode dedicated to Farid Al-Atrash. Directed by Simon Asmar, the show gave him the opportunity to showcase his talent, and he won the Farid Al-Atrash trophy as the youngest contestant. He later performed in multiple tribute events at notable venues, such as UNESCO Palace in Beirut and Fakhr El-Din Theater in Broummana, honoring Arab legends like Abdel Halim Hafez on New TV’s “Best Songs of the Past.”
In 2005, Badih released his debut single “Wallah Ash’aqak Eniyeh,” written by Maher Shuaib and composed and arranged by his brother Shadi Abu Saeed. The song’s music video, directed by Adel Sarhan, aired on various satellite channels, including Melody Hits and Mazzika, and brought him further recognition, leading to performance contracts outside Lebanon. For over five years, he performed across the UAE, Kuwait, Cyprus, Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco, determined to return to Lebanon and pursue stardom.
In 2011, he released his second single, “Yestarji,” with lyrics by Maher Shuaib, composed by Yasser Jalal, and arranged by Roger Khoury. The song was a major success, supported by a music video directed by Jean Richa. Currently, Badih is preparing to release his latest song, “Ma Ateyaba,” which has already topped charts on Lebanese and Arab radio stations.
In 2020, his brother, Shadi Abou-Said, released a song titled “وين العدالة يا بلادي” (“Where is the Justice, My Country”), which he wrote, composed, arranged, and performed. The song reflects the widespread public anger and calls for justice in Lebanon.
In 2023, Badih Abou-Said released the single “Ya Wayli,” further showcasing his evolving musical style and continued relevance in the Arabic music scene. The song is available on various platforms, including Amazon.
