Lebanese Boyscout Association - Beirut District the Beirut Two Scouting Group. History, photo album, units, activities and more.
The Lebanese Scout Association:
The association started out as the American University Boy Scouts in 1935 comprising three units: The French Unit, the English Unit, and the Civic Welfare League. In 1943 these units were united as the International Boy Scouts, which following the independence of Lebanon changed into the Lebanese Boy Scouts Association. In 1947, the association joined the Lebanese Scouts Union.
The Beirut Two Group:
The history of B2 dates back to the year 1941, when the boy scouts unit Abnaa al Tabia (Sons of Nature) was founded by Chief Antoine Tabsharani. During the years that followed, more units were formed establishing a complete group by 1950 - the Salah Eddine Al-Ayyoubi Group, Beirut Two - under the leadership of Chief Farid Karam.
In 1955, Beirut Two became a marine scouts group under the leadership of Chief Hani Azzam. In 1958, the Hanibal Group - B8 merged with B2 forming the Salah Eddine Al-Ayyoubi - B2 Group.
Throughout its history, B2 has always been an active group involved in fundamental, social, and communal work. As such B2 participated in several social service events such as: Aid and rescue during the sinking of the ship Champilion in 1952; the flood of Abu Ali River in Tripoli in 1955; and the earthquake that hit Beirut in 1956 among others. In addition, B2 has aided many refugees during the war notably in 1978, 1996 and 1998.
Today the B2 group works to maintain the tradition of service and scouting spirit set by our founders and seeks to expand and improve itself according to the new challenges set ahead.
