In the big theater that contains 500 seats, important artists such as Soumaya Baalbacki, Sami Hawwat, and Lebanese-Canadian jazz singer Randa Ghoussoub perform.
International troupes such as the French- German hip-hop dance troupe, the Tunisian school of circus, and the Oud family composed of 6 oud professors, show the public their talent and display their latest works.
In addition, the grand theater receives the most prestigious and talented instrument players in the world. During the months of May and June, the grand theater in Al Madina theater has received the famous Dutch pianist Marcel Worms, as well as the American sax player Rene McLean and the Lebanese oud player Charbel Rouhana for a joined performance. The grand theater has also witnessed the performance of the international oud player Omar Bachir and the signature of his latest CD “Latin Oud”.
That’s not all that happens in the grand theater. Spectacles for the end of the year for nursery “students” take place also. “Dent de Lait” nursery has graduated its students on the 23rd of June 2005, and the kindergarten class of the Elite school has also graduated in a spectacle on the 25th of the same month.
As for the Noha Al Radi exposition room, it sure is the place for the best photo expositions, poetry readings, and the signature of the newest books in the market.
This exposition room has received the popular Swedish poet Thomas Transtromer on the 14th of June 2005. There has been readings from the Transtromer’s poems that had been translated to Arabic. The readers were the Lebanese poet Adonis and Nidal El Achkar.
Transtromer’s works that were translated to Arabic were all joined in a book which was signed on that night in the Noha Al Radi exposition room.
On the 19th of July 2005, Noha Al Radi exposition room witnessed the signature of the latest novel by the Lebanese novelist Hassan Daoud; in the same context, another book was signed in the same room on the 17th of August 2005. “The Image and its visual in the Arabic culture” was the title of the book written by ‘Tajamoo al nisa2 al Bahithate’.
A photo exposition took place in Noha Al Radi exposition room from the 8th till the 16th of September 2005. The theme of the expo was ‘photos from the Cold River camp’.
The latest event taking place in the expo room at Al Madina theater dated 20 till 25 September 2005. There are 6 movies from around the world on the theme of non-violence that would be discussed and debated by their public.
Al Madina theater not only displays all kinds of arts, but it has also introduced a new type of events called ‘ The Xanadu Nights’.
The Xanadu nights are special events that take place in the Noha Al Radi exposition room and in the coffeeshop. It includes poetry readings, instrument playings, as well as food presentations taking place in the coffeeshop. It also includes discussions among the artists and public present.
