The event will include the launch of our new publication Goulburn and Beyond exemplifying Lebanese settlement in rural and regional New South Wales before WW2. A display and presentation by the Moses/Manning families about their settlement from Gundillion in the 19th century will feature as an example. Cost is free to Members and supporters. Bookings for catering purposes: please email - mail alhs.org.au or leave a phone message (02) 96657478.This is a function is in partnership with State Records NSW.Mr and Mrs Abrahim Bookallil, c.1890 arriving in Australia. The photographer was Brien Iheup - 85 Waymouth Street, Adelaide so the photograph was probably taken in Adelaide. Although Lebanese had settled in Australian many years prior to 1890, this is the oldest known image of early Lebanese settlers in Australia. More historical material canb be found in the History Articles section.Moses Family members plant a Cedar of Lebanon at Gundillion NSW 25th September 2005 in commemoration of Moses family who settled in the village and other Lebanese pioneer settlers.
