The BLOM Bank Beirut International Marathon 2006 will take place on Sunday, 26 of November. Register as a volunteer and be part of the Beirut Marathon team to deliver a great event for the love of Lebanon. More than 4,000 volunteers are wanted for several different positions before, during and after the race.

Races
The BLOM Bank Beirut Marathon comprises of 3 separate races, held on the same day. All races allow entry for disabled athletes.

10-K Fun Run 10km 11+ only
Mini-Marathon 5km 11-17 only

The Fourth BLOM Bank Beirut Marathon will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2006.

Registration
All runners wishing to take part in any of the BIM events must register before the deadline by filling in a form and paying a registration fee. Please do not leave this till last minute and then complain about the past deadline. The sooner you register, then sooner you can start serious training for your race. Race Course
The BLOM Bank Beirut Marathon course is a fully certified AIMS course. Our 2006 course is different than last year course in its first 10 kilometers. We will post the course online soon.

Weather Conditions
Statistically, the weather in Beirut on November 26th is 15oC - an ideal temperature for running a marathon. There is a small chance it will be raining that day. If so, try wearing a light waterproof jacket to keep dry. The BLOM Bank Beirut Marathon will be held regardless of the weather. Keep a watch out for the weather during the week of November 26 and be ready for all conditions.

Your Running Number
You will receive your running bibs at the Marathon Village between 22 and 23 November 2006. They will come with safety pins. Attach your running number to the front of your running vest. Do not cut or fold your running number in any way - it is contrary to the rules and will lead to your disqualification.

IMPORTANT: You must not use someone elses number, and do not let anyone else use yours. Your name, race category, gender, and age will be identified on your number.

Final Instructions
All runners will be given a free copy of the event magazine with every runners kit. It will contain 10 pages of final instructions. PLEASE READ THESE! They are very important for you to know what to do (and not do) on Race Day. A PDF document of final instructions will also be available online, so check our website regularly for up-to-date information.

Rules and Regulations

* The race is open to all athletes of Lebanese or foreign nationality.

* The competitors must comply with age limitations. Age categories will be given a separate classification.

* Runners compete in the race under their own responsibility.

* Nobody can run the track without official registration. Runners without BIM running bibs will be directed off the course immediately.

* Roller-skates, inline skates, bikes, baby strollers or carriages of any kind are not allowed on the Marathon course. If you are caught with any of these, you will be directed off of the route.

* Please do not run with your baby or child under 11 years old. A pack of thousands of runners poses a serious risk hazard to your child or baby. As cute as you and your baby will look, we do not want you (or us) to take this risk. Participants under 11 years old are not covered by our insurance.

* Walkers are asked to start near the end of the pack to avoid being crowded or bumped.
* Pets are forbidden on the course. No four-legged runners!

* Marathoners may not swap race numbers or timing chip device. Violators risk disqualification from BIM.

* Please do not wear jewelry or carry precious items with you during the marathon. The BIM will not be held responsible for any lost valuables.

* Participants racing in wheelchairs are required to wear helmets throughout the race.
